Saint André de la Roche

7 km from Nice. From the A8 motorway take the Nice-Est exit.

Saint André is a small commune made up of a number of scattered hamlets to the north of Nice (15 minutes from the Masséna square).
The Abadie and Rimiez hills which surround the centre of Saint André were at one time agricultural, but over the years they have become built up and residential. Located close to Nice the village has expanded rapidly and has doubled its population!
Today Saint André is trying to manage this rapid expansion by conserving the feel of a calm tranquil village. Some beautiful wooded spaces have been protected and offer wonderful walks around the signed pathways where you can enjoy the views over the hills to the Côte d'Azur and the Cap d'Antibes.
Saint André has a rare example of baroque architecture which has conserved intact its XVIIIth C heritage : the Château Thaon de Revel. This apparently sober residence was built on the site of a XVIth century fortress and includes an italian style noble's house and a private chapel. Although not obvious from the outside the luxury and rich quality of the interiors with frescoes will bowl you over.
