Venanson

65 km north of Nice, on the RN 202 to Plan du Var, then right on the D2565 to St Martin-Vésubie and then the D31.Daily buses from Nice.

Built on a rocky outcrop at an altitude of 1150m , this small village is a true look out post over the Vésubie valley and the forests of the superb Mercantour National Park.
You are visiting a wonderful (and that's an understatement) natural environment, set within protected flora and fauna. Depending on the season you can see chamois (more then 4 800), mouflons (1000 +), ibex (more then 100) and even some Royal Eagle couples !
A range of walks will take you through the splendid Malune forest, the Pic de Colmiane passing through the picturesque hamlets of Rigons, Libaret and Les Granges.
In the village itself, as aver you'll climb up the typical steep, narrow streets, discover the stone-built houses built against each other.
Wonderful photo opportunities from the edge of the cliffs, but be careful, you need a head for heights!
