Lambesc
23 km West of Aix en Provence via the N7.
Situated between Salon de Provence and Aix en Provence, Lambesc is a pleasant village with a rich historic past. Lambesc played an important political role under the reigns of Louis 14th, Louis 15th and Louis 16th.
The "Assemblees Generales des Communautes du pays de Provence" has been based here for 140 years ! This is why Lambesc is known as the "Versailles Aixois".
You will soon be enchanted by this colourful village, filled with carefully-tended window boxes and gardens. While visiting Lambesc, you will notice that this small village-museum has inherited an important historic past.
You will discover superb town-houses, ancient fountains, communal washing areas, a beautiful church, chapels and not less than 11 oratories (5 in the village and 6 in the hill-sides nearby).
Animated all year-round, with a more intensive programme during the summer, you can profit from the enthusiasm of the local associations which arrange numerous leisure activities.
Truffle fairs, santon fairs, the centre of the wine-making appellation of the Coteaux d'Aix or events surrounding the rural seasonal migration... whatever your taste or style, Lambesc has something to offer.
