The little village of Verquières is situated in the Alpilles, in the north of the Bouches du Rhône and just a few kilometres from the Durance and Vaucluse. Easily accessible and offering a wide range of interesting places to visit within a 30-kilometre radius, it is a great starting place from which to explore the whole region: Luberon, Camargue, Avignon, St Rémy, Les Baux de Provence, Arles, Tarascon...
Verquières is a village which has developed rapidly in recent years. It has no fewer than 11 housing estates and 2 craft industry parks. In the village you can enjoy excellent refreshment at the Croque Chou or the Le Verquières restaurant, but there is little in the way of historic monuments to visit. Verquières is not really a major tourist site but note the church with its bell-tower which is listed as a historic monument. The Saint Gens Oratory is also worth a detour, as are the dovecote and the impressive pyramid flanking the entrance to the Domaine de Beauplan.
Juste à côté de l'église, vous pourrez vous restaurer agréablement au Restaurant le Croque Chou qui propose une cuisine raffinée sur une terrasse ombragée qui a beaucoup de charme. Mais peu de vestiges ou monuments sont à visiter à Verquières qui n'est pas à proprement parlé un haut lieu touristique.
De belles promenades sont à faire dans les alentours du village, l'Oratoire Saint Gens mérite votre détour ainsi que le pigeonnier and l'impressionnante pyramide encadrant l'entrée du Domaine de Beauplan. La nature qui entoure le village est superbe alternant champs cultivés and vergers, bordés d'allées de cyprès, de pins and platanes. Les routes sont plutôt plates and assez peu fréquentées... idéales pour de grandes balades à vélo !
