La Bastide des Jourdans

Pop.: 1,053 Alt.: 428 m.

Department of the Vaucluse

On the D955, between Pertuis (17km) and Manosque (16km)

La Bastide des Jourdans is a peaceful village, situated in the vallée d'Aigues, in the southern Luberon. Founded at the beginning of the
13th century by the Comte de Forcalquier, La Bastide des Jourdans takes its name from its first nobles, the knights Guillaume and Pierre Jourdan who built the first "bastide" or large country house here.

La Bastide des Jourdans is a walled village perched at an altitude of 428m. It is dominated by a 13th century chateau, the remains of which can still be seen. The medieval towers and buildings from the 14th century lend a particular charm to this village.

A large choice of very pleasant and relatively easy walking trails can be taken through the surrounding countryside.
