Castellet

Pop.: 103. Alt.: 480 m.

Département of the Vaucluse

13 km east of Apt via the N100 (direction Forcalquier)
for 10km then the D48 on the right.

Situated at the foot of Mourre Nègre (1.125m), Castellet is a small, peaceful village surrounded by beautiful countryside which visitors can best explore by foot.

A well-signposted walking path will guide you to the summit of the Luberon in just two hours. Enroute you can discover some of the native plants and trees typically found in the Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon.

Arriving at the summit, your efforts will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Alpes du Sud, the Sainte Victoire mountain in the Aix-en-Provence region, the Camargue in the Saintes Maries, the Alpilles in the area of St Rémy de Provence and of course, Mont Ventoux with the village of Bedoin nestled in the foothills..

While walking around Castellet, you will be pleasantly surprised to discover that even this tiny village has its own artists, sculptors and art gallery.

Just outside the town, visitors can admire some rare pieces of "faïences anciennes" or earthenware displayed in an old factory.
