Dominated by a spectacular jagged rocky bar, Andon is a small village on the edge of the vast Caille plain.
Once you've parked in the large parking lot at the entrance to the village, you're sure to appreciate the space and fresh air, the large meadow and the boule pitch, as much as the long, quiet main street, where you can admire a beautiful stone church, an arched passageway and some old houses with wooden balconies.
At the very end of the village, you'll find a beautiful, carefully restored house, ...it was the home of “César”, a much-appreciated artist who knew how to embellish and enhance, with great taste, these wonderful old stones.
The village is fortunate to have its own ski resort, l'Audibergue, where you can enjoy downhill and cross-country skiing with the whole family. Skiers and hikers will find the Audibergue summit an ideal spot from which to admire a panorama stretching all the way to the sea.
On a wild territory of 700 hectares, the reserve is home to exceptional European fauna. European bison and Przewalski's horses roam freely alongside deer, elk and wild boar. There are several unique ways to discover the area: walking safaris, horse-drawn carriage rides or, during the winter season, snowshoe and sleigh excursions. Naturalist guides share their passion and knowledge of these remarkable species.
Andon is also a caving enthusiast's delight, thanks to the many gouffres and avens in the commune. These can only be done with a local licensed guide, who can be contacted at the Andon Town Hall or Tourist Office.
