Discover Port Cros, the smallest of the Golden Islands
Located between Porquerolles and Ile du Levant, Port Cros is the smallest of the three Golden Islands in the Gulf of Hyères. Measuring 4 km long and 3 km wide, its territory covers 690 hectares.

The island boasts five forts that bear witness to Port Cros's defensive role in days gone by. The oldest dates back to François I° (Fort du Moulin). Only Fort de l'Estissac (a 15-minute walk from the port) is open to the public, and it's the ideal spot from which to admire most of the island.

Port Cros National Park
Since 1963, the entire island has been a National Park, including (uniquely in Europe) a 600-meter maritime zone around its shores. In extraordinarily clear water, an underwater “circuit” is marked out in the same way as long-distance hiking trails.

Superb hiking routes
On this trail, you'll discover the splendor and richness of the underwater world, but beware: the fish and plant species are protected... no underwater fishing allowed! For this visit, bring your mask, fins and snorkel. This underwater discovery is located on La Palud beach.
Leaving from the port (behind the fort), you'll follow a fabulous path that offers goosebump-inducing views of the sea in places, and smells of Aleppo pine everywhere. Count on a 30-minute walk (in the shade most of the time...), in other words, 30 minutes of bliss in this little paradise.

The beach
Then you arrive on the fine sandy beach, neither too large nor too small, with a few trees to shade you... facing you, at your feet, at last, the sea...! A crystal-clear sea, without a moored boat to block your view (mooring is forbidden on this beach to preserve the seabed)... in short, a paradise!
True nature lovers will be delighted by the many rare and wild species protected here, which they will discover thanks to the marked trails (over 35 km) all over the island. The botanical trail in particular is a marvel to behold, and you can also explore the Port Cros landscape on the crest circuit (3h), the Port Man circuit (4h) or the beach circuit (30mn).
Port Cros is the most mountainous and wild of the three islands, where you can enjoy absolute peace and quiet... like Robinson on his island (if you avoid July and August)!

A charming little port
The charm of the port will seduce you even before you've docked...small and quietly shaded by tall palm trees, you'll have the impression of disembarking in an overseas island where the very relaxed atmosphere will remind you that you're “in the south of the south of France”.opposite the landing stage you'll find the Port-Cros National Park reception office, which can sell you a map of the island and offer you documentation on the marked plant trail.

Port Cros or Porquerolles?
Obviously, we'd answer both if you have the time! However, Porquerolles is a bigger island, with more beaches and longer walks. At the height of summer, Port Cros is a little less crowded because it's less famous.
