Adorned with all its charming assets, La Londe also seduces visitors with the shimmering colours of a unique terroir with the warm scents of Provence: Côtes de Provence AOC wines (including grands crus for wine lovers), olive oil and mills (award-winning oils every year and 2 mills opened in 2005), flowers (gerberas, strelitzias, roses, tulips...), aromatic herbs, olive trees and cork oaks.

The beaches of La Londe

The Miramar, Tamaris and l'Argentière beaches stretch over 2.5km between Les Salins d'Hyères and the Pellegrin beach at Bormes-les-Mimosas (close to the Estagnol beach and the Fort de Brégançon). The Plage de L'Argentière was awarded the Tourisme et Handicap label in 2007.

A lovely market

Come and stock up on local produce every Sunday morning at the La Londe market. It's a friendly Provencal market and a great opportunity to visit the village and grab a bite to eat. In fine weather, come early in the morning to avoid the crowds.

Why the name La-Londe-les-Maures?

The commune of La Londe was named around 1678, "la londe" meaning a cleared forest. It was in the 19th century that the term "les Maures" was added to distinguish this commune from others called "La Londe" in France and to indicate that it was close to the Massif des Maures. "Maure" meaning "dark brown" in ancient Greek. There is no connection with any Arab invasion or colonisation in the past, as you may read on some ill-informed websites.
