Discover the small village of Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon
In the south of the département, Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon is a small rural community with a population of just over a hundred, situated on a hill that slopes gently down to the banks of the Verdon.
A village close to the famous Gorges du Verdon
This small Provencal village lives in serenity, surrounded by fields and woods (a third of its territory), with many nearby walks and excursions to the famous Gorges du Verdon.
Oil mill and castles
In this village steeped in history, explore the Gallo-Roman ruins and its medieval heritage as you stroll through the old centre. Discover the 17th-century oil mill, now a charming hotel with a Provencal garden, and the 18th-century wash-house. Don't miss the ruins of the 15th-century fortified castle and the magnificent 17th-century château, with its towers and Louis XIV fireplace.
The lake, watersports centre and beaches of Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon
Take advantage of the lake's cool waters to go for a walk, have a picnic and spend some quality time in the water with your family. You can hire canoes, pedalos and electric boats at the nautical base and set off to explore this pretty lake in the Verdon valley. The beach is peaceful and shady, ideal for enjoying the clear waters of the lake. For naturist enthusiasts, there is a naturist camp at Domaine d'Enriou.
A beautiful hike close to the village
Starting from the village of Saint Laurent du Verdon, we recommend the hike from the Valensole plateau to Lac de Montpezat. Fields of lavender, turquoise waters, a feast for the eyes! The routes are well signposted from the village.
The Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon market
There is no market in Saint-Laurent itself, but we recommend the Quinson market on Monday mornings and the Montagnac-Montpezat market on Friday mornings. These are two pleasant Provencal markets very close to St Laurent du Verdon.
