Artignosc sur Verdon
North of Saint Maximin (N7 et A8). Take route D30 heading for Aups, then turn left onto the D73 then again on D47l.
This village on the edge of the Var and Alpes de Haute Provence departements, not far from the Verdon Gorge, has become a tourist centre offering many nautical activities on its lake, which joins up with Sainte Croix Lake.
The village houses are grouped at the foot of the Thoron château dating back to the 14th and 15th century, which is now the mairie.
As you stroll along the alleyways of Artignosc, you will discover lovingly restored beautiful old houses, some ancient fountains, and behind the mairie is the former public bread oven.
There are some wonderful walks near the village, in the midst of a magnificent untouched natural environment.
The GR99 long-distance hiking path crosses the village, and (if you are wearing strong shoes) takes you to the Quinson Lake dam to the west, or as far as Baudinard if you choose to head eastwards.
