What are the must-see places?

The port of Cassis

The marina is the beating heart of the town. Its colorful facades, fishing boats, and café terraces create an authentic Provençal atmosphere.

Stroll along the Quai Barthélémy to admire the traditional pointus boats. The statue of Saint Peter, patron saint of fishermen, watches over the town from its niche.

The restaurants offer the local specialty: oursinade (sea urchin stew) in season.

The calanques

Port-Miou is a 30-minute walk from the center. This former limestone quarry is now a natural harbor for sailboats.

Port-Pin, which is wilder, can be reached after an additional 15-minute walk. Its small sandy beach and Aleppo pines balancing on the rocks offer an idyllic setting.

En-Vau is the most spectacular of the Cassis calanques. Allow an hour's hike from Port-Miou to reach this cove with crystal-clear waters framed by vertical cliffs.

Cap Canaille

This sea cliff rises to 394 meters, making it one of the highest in Europe. The Route des Crêtes offers breathtaking views of the Gulf of Cassis.

The viewpoint allows you to admire the calanques from above. On a clear day, you can see as far as Corsica.

Please note: the road is closed in strong winds and when there is a high risk of fire.

Historical heritage

The Town Hall is housed in a magnificent 17th-century mansion. Its reception room, paved courtyard, and decorated chapel are well worth a visit.

The Four Banal, on Rue Thérèse Rastit, bears witness to medieval life when the inhabitants came to bake their bread in the communal oven. The Saint-Michel church, built with Cassis stone, dominates the village with its bell tower.

The Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions exhibits Roman remains and ethnographic collections in the former 18th-century presbytery.
