There are roughly a hundred peaks over 3,000 m, and almost as many waterfalls and mountain streams.
The most unusual feature of the landscape is known as Les Demoiselles Coiffées (the hatted young ladies): in the middle of nowhere, an astonishing series of stone columns with a hat-shaped rock formation on the top of each !

In the middle of Gap, as you wander around the renovated town centre, you'll discover the history of what was once a fortified town, in the Middle Ages.
In the vast pedestrian area, after strolling along the shopping streets, you'll come across the mayor's office and the 19th century cathedral.
