A morning is enough to explore the historic village with its main monuments. The afternoon can be spent in Port Grimaud and its canals. Seven days in Grimaud means seven times more opportunities to visit the villages of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and the Var!

If you stay for several days, you can explore the surrounding area and enjoy outdoor activities. Unless you prefer to linger and enjoy wine tastings at one of the estates or the wine cooperative.

What are the must-see places?

Grimaud Castle: climb up to this medieval castle to enjoy a panoramic view of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and discover the history of the local lords. The Château de Grimaud remains the village's main attraction. At the top, the castle ruins will reward all your efforts. The Château de Grimaud was built in the 11th century, then remodeled in the 15th century before being demolished by Richelieu during the Wars of Religion.

Saint-Michel Church: admire this 12th-century Romanesque church with its typical Provençal architecture. The Tourist Office offers a walking tour with a brochure and signposts. This way, you won't miss the 12th-century Romanesque parish church of Saint-Michel with its square bell tower.

Or the small chapel of the White Penitents, built in 1482. This chapel is one of the must-see religious monuments. Not to mention the 1886 water pump with double fountain, the squares and passageways, some vaulted and others so narrow that you can barely pass through them!

Port Grimaud, nicknamed “Little Venice of Provence” and listed as a 20th-century heritage site, never ceases to amaze. This unique lakeside town is well worth a thorough visit. A must-do activity in Port Grimaud is a boat tour of the port along the canals, which will give you a whole new perspective on this lakeside town.

How to get to Grimaud?

The nearest highway exits: – Le Muy (follow signs for Sainte-Maxime / Saint-Tropez): A8 – Exit 36 – Le Luc/Le Cannet des Maures (follow signs for La Garde-Freinet / Saint-Tropez): A57 – Exit 13. Access by car remains the most convenient way to explore the region.

To avoid the fatigue of a long drive, the train is a good solution. The closest SNCF train stations to Grimaud are: – Saint-Raphaël/Valescure – Toulon – Les Arcs/Draguignan Regional buses operated by the “Zou” company then serve several stops in Grimaud from these stations.

The most economical option (€2.10 per trip), Zou buses serve many towns in the Var department, either directly or with a change. The main lines are 874, 876, and 877. For those coming from afar to discover our region, there are several airports in the area: – Nice Côte d'Azur (about 1.5 hours) – Marseille Provence (about 1.5 hours) – Toulon/Hyères (about 1 hour) – Saint-Tropez/La Mole (approx. 20 min)
