What are the must-see places?

The Château de Lacoste

Built in the 11th century, Lacoste Castle was long the home of the noble Simiane family, before becoming the refuge of the Marquis de Sade in the 16th century. Now owned by Pierre Cardin, the restored castle majestically overlooks the village.

From the castle esplanade, you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of Mont Ventoux, the Luberon, and the hilltop villages. The old stone quarries now host the prestigious Lacoste Festival every summer.

Saint-Trophime Church

You can also admire the 12th-century parish church of Saint-Trophime. This Romanesque building, dedicated to the first bishop of Arles, features remarkable architecture. Located outside the medieval walls, it has been renovated several times.

The historic belfry

The 1793 belfry with its wrought-iron campanile marks the entrance to the former seigneurial area. This architectural treasure bears witness to the urban evolution of the village over the centuries.

The medieval center

Through the Portail de la Garde, you enter the medieval heart of the village. Here, almost nothing has changed since the 14th century. The facades with their decorated doors and mullioned windows transport you back in time.

The village has charming little cobbled streets that are well worth exploring. These authentic alleyways wind their way between perfectly restored century-old houses.

SCAD University

The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), a prestigious American university located in the heart of the village, is considered a true artistic hub. This institution has been culturally animating Lacoste for decades.
