Hiking enthusiasts will enjoy a week-long stay. This will give them time to explore the 1,000 kilometers of marked trails in the Val d'Allos.

In winter, allow a week to fully enjoy the Seignus and La Foux ski areas. The two resorts offer 165 kilometers of downhill ski trails.

Where is the Allos tourist office?

The Val d'Allos tourist office welcomes you all year round in the village. It is located at 39-45 place de la Coopérative, 04260 Allos. You can contact them on +33 (0)4 92 83 02 81.

The team of advisors is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. during high season. In low season, the office is closed on Sundays and public holidays. It is recommended that you make an appointment before your visit.

A second visitor center operates in La Foux d'Allos during the summer and winter seasons. Call +33 (0)4 92 83 80 70 if you have any questions about mountain activities.

Information terminals are available 24/7 in front of both offices. A free public Wi-Fi zone is available on the village's main street from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

What are the must-see places in Allos?

The Lake of Allos is the main attraction in the area. This largest natural high-altitude lake in Europe is located at 2,220 meters. It can be reached by a 1.5-hour hike from the Laus car park. Allow 7 hours for the round trip from the village on foot.

The 13th-century Notre-Dame-de-Valvert church is worth a visit for its Romanesque style. Its choir paintings by Fidèle Patritti, created between 1857 and 1859, are remarkable. The village retains its authentic charm with its narrow streets and traditional three-story houses.

The Mercantour National Park stretches out at the gates of Allos. You will discover unspoiled flora and fauna during your hikes. Mont Pelat rises to 3,051 meters and offers a challenge for experienced hikers.

Numerous rural chapels dot the area: Notre-Dame-des-Monts near the lake, Sainte-Anne, Saint-Jacques, and Saint-Laurent. The Col d'Allos at 2,247 meters offers a viewpoint with an orientation table.

How to get to Allos?

From Aix-en-Provence, take the A51 exit Peyruis/Les Mées then follow the signs. The road passes through Digne-les-Bains via the N85 to Barrême. Continue on the N202 to Saint-André-les-Alpes, then take the D955 to Colmars.

Finally, take the D908 to Val d'Allos. The total journey is approximately 177 kilometers from Aix-en-Provence. Allow around 2½ hours by car.

Please note that the Col d'Allos is closed from November to May. In winter, access is only possible from the south via Annot and Saint-André-les-Alpes. This road is the only one open during the cold season.

Public transportation is limited. A car is the most convenient way to reach Allos and explore the surrounding area.
