La Tour sur Tinée
Alpes Maritimes Departement - Population : 584 inh.
50 Km from Nice, take the N202 then the D2205 and the D32.
La Tour sur Tinée is a hill top village overlooking the River Tinée valley listed as an Historical Monument.
Although it is a mountain village (highest point being 1.151m altitude) La Tour sur Tinée has more the appearance of a provencal village.
In its stone paved squares, around the fountains, planting and welcoming benches, take in the sun or join in the conversations with the elders of the village.
Stroll down the narrow, well maintained paved streets and you'll pass by ancient houses, arcades, engraved doorways and lintels set above beautiful and mysterious doorways.
Equally, take time to admire the picturesque "trompe l'oeil" facades of the Town Hall and the "maison Blanqui".
Finally the Tour sur Tinée hosts the oldest oil mill in the departement.
See the large wheel which has been restored and maintained with loving care... Well worth a visit!
