How long does it take to visit Eyguières?

The hike to the Tour des Opies takes about 3 to 4 hours round trip. This athletic excursion offers exceptional views of the Alpilles, the Crau plain, and the Luberon. Be sure to wear good shoes, as the trail becomes steep near the summit.

For a complete tour of the surrounding area, allow a full day. You will have time to explore the castellas of Roquemartine and the remains of the Gallo-Roman villa. The Tuesday morning market alone is worth a one-hour stop.

Where is the tourist office?

The tourist office is located at 23 Place Thiers, in the heart of the village. It is housed in the former town hall, an easily recognizable building. You will find it easily by following the directional signs.

Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The friendly staff can provide you with information on local walks and events. They know the region inside out and can recommend suitable itineraries.

In summer, the office is sometimes moved to Place Monier. For further information, call +33 (0)4 90 59 82 44. Feel free to ask them for information about the Alpilles.

The office also offers guided tours by reservation. This is an opportunity to learn more about the history of the village.

Where to park in Eyguières?

Parking can be difficult during the high tourist season. All parking lots are clearly marked on our interactive map at the top of this page.

The Town Hall parking lot on Rue du Couvent is centrally located and free of charge. Place des Frères Roche and Place Monier also offer parking spaces. The Couren parking lot on Place de la Libération is another convenient option.

For hikers, the Arènes car park provides direct access to the Tour des Opies trail. It is located on the outskirts of the village in the direction of Aureille. Arrive early in the morning to be sure of finding a space.

The Gilous school car park on Impasse de la Guillaumette and the Louis Legal dojo car park on Avenue Gabriel Péri are further away. However, they are still less than a 10-minute walk from the center. Consult our map to find the one that suits you best.

What are the must-see places?

The Tour des Opies is a must-see: it rises to 498 meters and offers a spectacular view of the entire Alpilles mountain range. This highest point offers an exceptional 360-degree panorama. The trail starts from the village arena.

The Castellas de Roquemartine, a ruined castle dating from the 12th and 13th centuries, is well worth a visit. This fortified complex perched on a rocky outcrop is reminiscent of Les Baux-de-Provence. The adjoining church, also in ruins, completes this historical tour.

The remains of the Gallo-Roman villa of Saint-Pierre de Vence are the most impressive site in Eyguières. A dozen buildings have been unearthed, bearing witness to occupation until the 9th century. Access is free of charge.

The village is renowned for its fountains: the Coquille fountain, the Cocotte fountain, and the Bormes fountain are magnificent. Stroll through the shady squares to discover them all. The Notre-Dame-de-Grâce church, with its impressive classical architecture, is also worth a visit.

How to get to Eyguières?

By car, take the D17 or D569 from Salon-de-Provence, located just 7 kilometers away. The journey takes about 10 minutes on these departmental roads. From Aix-en-Provence, it is 50 kilometers via the A7 motorway and then the D17.

The nearest train station is Lamanon, about 4 kilometers away. From Salon-de-Provence, buses serve Eyguières via regional transport lines. Salon train station offers TGV and regional train connections.

From the TGV station in Aix-en-Provence, the bus journey takes about 2.5 hours with connections. A direct taxi from this station costs between €110 and €130 for a 34-minute drive. This is the fastest option if you are in a hurry.

Marseille-Provence Airport is about 45 kilometers away. Shuttle buses then run to Salon-de-Provence, from where you can easily reach Eyguières.
