Parking in Ventabren

Parking in Ventabren requires a little planning. In high season, spaces are scarce in the center. The Brès car park is the main parking area in the village. It is easily accessible after crossing the village.

Another parking lot is located on the D64, Avenue Charles de Gaulle, near the war memorial. This is an alternative if the Brès parking lot is full. It is then a 5-minute walk to the historic center. On market days (Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons), expect more people.

Ventabren's must-see attractions

The ruins of Queen Jeanne's castle dominate the village. This is the first site you should visit. From the foot of the ruins, you can enjoy an exceptional panorama. The view extends over the Étang de Berre, the Chaîne de l'Étoile, and Vitrolles.

The Saint-Denis church dates from the 17th century. It is worth a detour for its Provençal architecture. Inside, you will discover valuable objects. The church square is a pleasant place to take a break.

The Roquefavour aqueduct remains the most impressive monument. Built between 1842 and 1847 by Franz Mayor de Montricher, then aged 26, it was used to bring water from the Durance to Marseille. Its three rows of arches are impressive in their height. You have to leave the village and follow the signs to reach it.

Getting to Ventabren

By car, Ventabren is about 15 minutes from Aix-en-Provence. From the A7 motorway, take exit 28 towards Coudoux then Ventabren if you are coming from Lyon, or towards Vélaux, Berre, Coudoux then Ventabren if you are coming from Marseille. Access is easy and well signposted. The D10 road takes you directly to the village.

From the A8 motorway (Nice or Toulon), take the Aix-Jas de Bouffan exit towards Berre, then follow the D10 to Ventabren. The journey offers beautiful Provençal landscapes. You will pass through agricultural areas and wooded hills. The village appears perched on its hilltop.

By bus, several lines serve Ventabren from Aix-en-Provence. The journey takes about 30 minutes. You can catch the bus from the Aix bus station. Timetables vary depending on the day of the week.

The Aix-en-Provence TGV station is 17 km from Ventabren. You can then combine train and bus or opt for a taxi. A taxi is the fastest option from the station. It will drop you off directly in the village in 15 minutes. For sporty cyclists, it takes about 1 hour from Aix-en-Provence.
