Here are the events already announced for New Year’s Eve on Thursday, December 31, 2026. We’ll update this list as more events are announced.
Marseille – La Périchole at the Opera: Offenbach’s comic opera will be performed on Thursday, December 31, 2026, at 8:00 PM at the Marseille Opera (tickets from €10 to €80).
Toulon – Les Pêcheurs de perles: The Toulon Opera is presenting Bizet’s opera on December 31, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
Avignon – New Year’s Eve at the Opéra Grand Avignon: Following the performance of “Signé Offenbach,” the opera house will extend the evening with a festive cocktail reception starting at 10:30 p.m. at Place de l’Horloge.
Monaco – La Vie parisienne: The Monte-Carlo Opera will perform Offenbach’s operetta on December 31, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., Salle Garnier.
Aix-en-Provence – New Year’s Eve at Café-Théâtre Le Flibustier: three shows on December 31, 2026—the improvisational theater show “No Limit” (starting at €33.50), the comedy “Dad, I Don’t Want to Get Married!” (starting at €33.50), and “The Magic Cabaret: Department of Antiquities” (€31).

Isola 2000 – New Year’s Eve at the Foot of the Slopes: announced by the tourist office for December 31, 2026, featuring a dance, a torchlight descent by ski instructors, and fireworks starting at 6:00 p.m. on the snow front, with complimentary mulled wine and hot chocolate. Free.
Annual New Year’s Eve events: our recommendations by department
Many venues host a New Year’s Eve celebration every year but don’t publish their programs until November or December. Here are the ones to watch for, along with what they offered last year to give you an idea.
Bouches-du-Rhône.
In Marseille, Cabaret L’Étoile Bleue (5th arrondissement) is hosting a New Year’s Eve dinner and show: last year, the event ran from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., starting at €59. Les Voûtes Virgo, on Boulevard Jacques-Saade, offered a DJ night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. with fireworks at midnight, and the Art Dû Théâtre featured a show followed by a DJ set until 2 a.m., with the option to dine on site. North of Aix, the New Kabaret in Meyrargues offered a dinner-and-show for €175 (sold out), and the Francky Folies cabaret in Venelles hosted a grand dinner-and-show. In Aix itself, last year, Affaire de Comédie organized three stand-up and improv sessions at 20/35, Boulevard de la République.
Vaucluse
The Château des Fines Roches in Châteauneuf-du-Pape is hosting a New Year’s Eve celebration (last year starting at 7 p.m.). In Avignon, the Mireio dinner cruise and the New Year’s Eve celebration at the Opéra Grand Avignon (scheduled for 2026) are the two main events. Just across the Rhône, Le Castel in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon offers cabaret dinner-shows, including on the evening of December 31. Around Mont Ventoux, the Ventoux Provence tourist office publishes a list of New Year’s Eve menus and events every year.

Last year, Bandol hosted a drone show and fireworks display on December 31. In Solliès, near Toulon and Hyères, the restaurant La Bastide Enchantée organized a cabaret-style dance party lasting until 4 a.m., for 125 €, drinks included. In Le Lavandou and Saint-Tropez, the municipal festivities are free.
New Year’s Eve 2026 fireworks in Provence and on the French Riviera : where and what time?
Few towns set off fireworks at midnight: most do so in the early evening, and Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, and Toulon haven’t held them on the 31st for a long time. Private individuals are prohibited from setting off fireworks and firecrackers that night.
Scheduled for December 31, 2026: Le Lavandou at 7:00 p.m., Isola 2000 starting at 6:00 p.m.
Typically held on December 31—stay tuned for 2026: Cannes at midnight in the bay, facing the Croisette; Saint-Tropez at 7:30 p.m. at the harbor; Saint-Raphaël at 7:30 p.m., following a musical evening at the Jardin Bonaparte starting at 6:30 p.m.; Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer in the early evening, from the Arènes and Amphores beaches; Bandol with a drone show; Vars, in the Hautes-Alpes, to wrap up its big evening on the snowfront. Note: Bouc-Bel-Air holds its fireworks display on January 1 (at 7:30 p.m. in 2026, with free mulled wine and hot chocolate starting at 6:30 p.m. at Place de l’Hôtel de Ville).
The most beautiful towns in Provence to visit for New Year’s Eve on December 31.
Saint-Tropez stands out as the premier destination for a glamorous New Year’s Eve celebration. The sparkling harbor hosts the festivities with a spectacular fireworks display over the sea in the early evening (at 7:30 p.m. last year).
Nice celebrates in grand style on the Promenade des Anglais and in Old Nice. Restaurants in Old Nice offer festive menus featuring Mediterranean flavors. However, there were no midnight fireworks on New Year’s Eve last year. For a midnight fireworks display over the sea, head to Cannes, in the bay facing the Croisette.
In Marseille, the Old Port remains the gathering spot for New Year’s Eve, even without fireworks on the 31st. Restaurant terraces offer breathtaking views of the lights, while the bars in the Panier district stay lively until dawn.
For a more intimate atmosphere, Saint-Paul-de-Vence charms visitors with its medieval alleyways, perfect for a New Year’s Eve dinner with a small group.
Aix-en-Provence: A Festive Atmosphere Guaranteed
Aix-en-Provence hasn’t held a fireworks display on the evening of December 31 for quite some time: New Year’s Eve in Aix is celebrated at the theater, in cabarets, and at restaurants.
Already announced for December 31, 2026: the Café-Théâtre Le Flibustier is offering three shows for New Year’s Eve: the improvisational theater show “No Limit” with Dimitri Maraine and Alexandre Robitzer, where the audience guides the story (starting at €33.50); the comedy “Dad, I Don’t Want to Get Married! ” with Fred Lamia and Marine Mardellat (starting at €33.50), and “The Magic Cabaret: Department of Antiquities” (€31).
Other regular New Year’s Eve events in Aix: Last year, the Comédie d’Aix performed “The Student and Mr. Henri” at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. (€38), the Théâtre de la Fontaine d’Argent presented a one-man show, and Affaire de Comédie hosted three stand-up comedy sessions at the 20/35. For a dinner-and-show experience, the New Kabaret in Meyrargues and Francky Folies in Venelles are very close by, north of Aix. Their 2026 schedules are generally published starting in November.
Avignon lights up for New Year’s Eve 2026/2027
The City of the Popes dons its finest lights for a magical evening. The holiday illuminations create a fairy-tale atmosphere, while a festive cruise on the Rhône offers a chance to admire the sparkling Saint-Bénézet Bridge.
The Opéra Grand Avignon presents “ Signé Offenbach” on December 31, 2026, followed by a festive cocktail reception starting at 10:30 p.m. to ring in 2027. Romantics will opt for a dinner cruise aboard the Mireio, with views of the iconic landmarks: two years ago, the package included boarding at 8:00 p.m., passing under the Saint-Bénézet Bridge at midnight, followed by a DJ night until 3:00 a.m., for €140 per person. Please note: the big fireworks display for the Avignon festivities takes place before Christmas (on December 23 in recent years), on the banks of the Rhône near the bridge, and not on the 31st.
Saint-Rémy and Les Baux: Provençal charm
These two gems of the Alpilles celebrate the arrival of 2027 with quintessential Provençal elegance. New Year’s Eve is primarily celebrated around the table, in the country houses and restaurants of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Les Baux.
In Les Baux-de-Provence, the Carrières des Lumières are open on December 31 (10 a.m.–6 p.m.): it’s the last day of the immersive exhibition “Picasso, Art in Motion .” The gourmet restaurant L’Oustau de Baumanière is one of the region’s top dining destinations.
