Besse sur Issole
Located 3 km south of the RN7 between Brignoles (15 km) and Le Luc (15 km).
Besse is a charming little village located in the center of the department, in the heart of the Var.r.
Randomly through its narrow streets, you will come across some beautifully restored old houses, beautiful fountains including a Romanesque listed on the square of the old town hall, next to the Clock Tower with its belfry and bell tower.
The center of the village, where the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, poses a real charm.
In the main street which crosses the village, proudly sits a busty statue of the Mariane above an old fountain. It is here "à la Marianne" that everything happens, we meet there, we discuss, we joke.
Opposite her are two bars with their two terraces where everyone meets for morning coffee, the dish of the day at noon and of course the essential evening aperitif.ace à elle deux bars avec leurs deux terrasses où tout le monde se retrouve pour le cafe du matin, le plat du jour à midi et bien sur l' incontournable apero du soir.
Besse sur Issole is fortunate enough to have within its village a natural lake of 4 hectares. A few years ago it was a small oasis of freshness where we bathed in the summer, the children jumped from the diving board, we fished there, we picnicked there.
Today you can walk around the lake, you will come across the municipal campsite and its tavern.
A nice walk is to be done on foot from the village to u Mont St Quinis.
Today you can walk around the lake, you will come across the municipal campsite and its tavern A nice walk is to be done on foot from the village to Mont St Quinis. It climbs, but it's worth it: the top a charming little clearing; re with the magnificent little St Quinis Chapel touching by its simplicity and its beauty.
You will have a magnificent panorama of the village on the valley of Issole and the belt of wooded hills of oaks, pines, broom and thyme extends over nearly 20 ha and which surrounds the wine plain (800 ha of vines ) from the village.
Besse is also known to be the homeland of Gaspard de Besse, born in 1757, this thief "gentleman" was a precursor of the revolution..
Defender of oppressors, Gaspard de Besse only attacked the wealthy, without ever spilling blood.
Thanks to the ladies as a good "gentleman", this heart-breaker was famous throughout Provence.
