Discover the main hiking trails in the Var
Long-distance footpaths (GR) in the Var and the coastal footpath (sentier du Littoral)
The Var is a paradise for walkers, and the variety of its landscapes, from the sea to the mountains, makes it a special place in Provence.
The sentier du littoral du Var will take you to the most beautiful sandy beaches on the Côte d'Azur, with almost 192km of waymarked paths along the coast, offering sublime panoramic views of the sea from St Raphaël to Bandol, via Saint Tropez, Le Lavandou and Hyères.
The Haut Var and Verdon hikes will take you past Lake Sainte Croix and through peaceful little villages surrounded by unspoilt countryside.
To help you prepare for your hikes and avoid getting lost along the way, we recommend this fantastic guide to hiking in the Var: "Le Var à pied". This little guide is really very useful, it includes lots of very nice walks (simple and complicated walks) and it fits perfectly into a rucksack.
