A town rich in heritage
Religious buildings, remnants of ramparts, and old olive oil mills stand side by side along the squares shaded by plane trees. In the center, the Saint-Martin collegiate church towers over the rooftops. Its cornerstone was laid in 1704. It is one of the largest churches in the Var department.
Just a few steps away, the clock tower rises 28 meters. Built in 1623, it symbolizes the town’s emancipation from its feudal lords.
The Notre-Dame-de-Ben-Va Chapel
Located 3 km away, the Notre-Dame-de-Ben-Va Chapel is worth a visit. Its early 16th-century frescoes depict the weighing of souls, hell, and paradise.

What is the history of Lorgues?
Lorgues was once a Ligurian settlement, then a fortified town in the Middle Ages. The Knights Templar settled here around 1156. Their commandery of Ruou became the largest in Provence.
