How long does it take to visit Fontaine-de-Vaucluse?
If you just want to see the spring, 30 minutes is enough. You can then visit the paper mill, which doesn't take long to see.
For a complete visit, allow half a day. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk to the spring from Place de la Colonne. Add extra time to browse the shops and explore the museums.
The Underground World Museum offers a 45-minute guided tour suitable for children and adults. History buffs will enjoy the François Pétrarque Museum and the 11th-century Romanesque church.

Where is the tourist office located?
The Fontaine-de-Vaucluse Tourist Office is located at 4 route de Cavaillon, Place de la Colonne, in the Résidence Jean Garcin. You will easily recognize it thanks to its clear signage.
From April 7 to July 6, the office is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., closed on Sundays. From July 7 to September 28, it is open every day at the same times, plus Sundays from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

What are the must-see places?
The source of the Sorgue is the main attraction, with a flow rate that sometimes reaches 80 m³/s. This exceptional resurgence gushes from a mysterious chasm at the foot of a 230-meter cliff.
The Vallis Clausa paper mill, still in operation, makes paper as it was in the 15th century using the rag paper technique. Admission is free and you can sometimes watch the paper being made.
The Romanesque church of Saint-Véran dates from the 11th century and is one of the oldest in the department. Its marble altar and the sarcophagus of Saint-Véran are well worth a visit.
The François Pétrarque Museum-Library presents the work of the poet who lived part of his life in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. The ruins of the Château des Évêques de Cavaillon (12th century) overlook the village, although access is not recommended for safety reasons.
How to get to Fontaine-de-Vaucluse?
From Avignon, take the bus towards L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and get off at the Fontaine-de-Vaucluse stop after a 25-minute journey. This line operates all year round.
By train, arrive at Avignon TGV station then take a TER train to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue - Fontaine-de-Vaucluse SNCF station. Trains leave every hour from Avignon.
By car from Avignon, allow about 35 minutes via the D938 towards Cavaillon then the D24. Parking costs €4 for 2 hours in the village's paid parking lots.
In July and August, a tourist bus line serves L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, and the villages of the Luberon. There are also many marked bike trails that lead to the village.
