Joucas

Joucas is a terraced village built on a hill opposite the ochre of Roussillon.
You can appreciate the beautiful countryside in this peaceful village which is largely overlooked by tourists, unlike the other villages in the Luberon..

Joucas has plenty of picturesque narrow streets, paved with ancient stones.
You can happily stroll around, admiring the architecture, especially the lovely old stone houses surrounded by colourful flowers.

Visitors can take advantage of the many walking trails and discover the beauty of the environment surrounding Joucas.
Those who are less energetic will appreciate the magnificent view of the ochre cliffs which can be seen from the village.

Don't miss the church which may seen quite ordinary from the outside (rebuilt in 1766), but which in fact is a glorious museum of Italian painting in "trompe l'oeil"... it is superb!
