Parking in Sault becomes complicated during the high season. Spaces fill up quickly during the summer and on Wednesdays when the market is held. Arrive early if you are visiting between July and August.

The P3 car park in the Mougne district offers free parking. It is located near the town center and shops. This is the most convenient option for visitors.

What are the must-see places in Sault?

The Notre-Dame-de-la-Tour church has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1990. Its construction began at the end of the 12th century and was completed in the mid-17th century. It retains its barrel vaulted nave and beautiful Romanesque portal.

The municipal museum is open in July and August. It exhibits prehistoric, Gallo-Roman, and medieval collections, and even an Egyptian mummy. An original copy of Diderot's encyclopedia is on display there.

The “Une heure sur les pas du loup” (An hour in the footsteps of the wolf) tour takes you through the medieval historic center. You will discover three towers of the old castle, the remains of the ramparts and narrow streets with evocative names. A free brochure is available at the tourist office.

How to get to Sault?

By car, Sault is located 40 minutes east of Carpentras and 1 hour 5 minutes from Avignon. Allow 1 hour 40 minutes from Aix-en-Provence. The village is 69 km from Avignon.

From Carpentras, take the D942 towards Sault. You will pass through Mazan, Mormoiron, and Villes-sur-Auzon. At the exit of Villes-sur-Auzon, continue on the D1 via the Col des Abeilles.

From Apt, leave the city on the D943 towards Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt. In Saint-Saturnin, follow the D230 to the hamlet of Saint-Jean de Sault, then continue on the D943. The journey takes about 45 minutes.

From Drôme, take the D542 from Montbrun-les-Bains. You will pass through the village of Aurel before arriving in Sault. This is the shortest route from the north.

By train, first travel to Avignon. The Avignon TGV station is 1 hour and 5 minutes from Lyon, 30 minutes from Marseille, and 2 hours and 40 minutes from Paris. Then rent a car to reach Sault.
