Superb lavender fields in July

Here you will be surrounded by lavender fields as far as the eye can see. If you are lucky enough to be here in July when the lavender is in full bloom, you can enjoy the fabulous spectacle of purple fields mingling with golden grain, a truly enchanting sight.

The Church of the Trinity

The Church of the Trinity dates from the early 12th century. It has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1915. You will also find a Saint-Roch chapel built in 1629-1630 to protect the village from the plague. An old priory with a vaulted door stands opposite the church.

The Bistrot de Saint-Trinit is the heart of the village. Anthony and Élodie welcome you with cuisine made from local produce. The daily menu costs £22 (starter, main course, dessert).

What activities are there in Saint-Trinit?

Hiking is the main activity in the commune. The ancient oak trail is 9.3 km long with a 156-metre elevation gain. The pine, oak and beech forests are ideal for mushroom picking. Every year, on the second Sunday in October, the village organises its mushroom festival. You can explore the Albion plateau on foot or visit neighbouring villages such as Aurel and Sault. The tourist office will provide you with maps to help you plan your outings.

What is the history of Saint-Trinit?

The name Santa Trinitat has been documented since 1082, linked to a Benedictine priory built by monks. The current church dates from the 12th century and was built by the Benedictines of Saint-André Abbey in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. In 1580, during the Wars of Religion, the inhabitants fortified the church, which led to the demolition of the vault and part of the Romanesque nave. The building has been listed as a historic monument since 24 March 1915.

How to get to Saint-Trinit

Take the D950 road from Sault, located 6 km to the west. The distance from Avignon is approximately 72 km, or 1 hour and 15 minutes by car. Carpentras is 34 km from the village. Free parking is available at the entrance to the village. You can consult an IGN map to plan your route and calculate the exact journey time. Access is only possible by car as there is no direct public transport.

What events are there in Saint-Trinit?

The mushroom festival has been held every year for over 25 years, on the second Sunday in October. This event is part of the Ventoux Saveurs festival, which takes place in the Mont Ventoux Regional Nature Park. The event features a mycological exhibition, conferences and a market selling local produce. Catering is available on site at the Bistrot de Saint-Trinit, subject to reservation.
