Made famous by Claude Berri's film “Jean de Florette,” Riboux has preserved its authenticity and tranquility by limiting new construction. It is the ideal starting point for exceptional hikes to the peaks of Sainte Baume or simply to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Provençal hills. Jean de Florette's country house is still visible. Although it has been modernized for the comfort of its inhabitants, it remains easily recognizable!
The Sainte-Agathe Chapel
History buffs will appreciate the Sainte-Agathe chapel and its typical rural heritage. It is a charming chapel surrounded by trees. It has a pleasant atmosphere.

How do you get to Riboux?
Getting to Riboux is a little unusual, as the village sits at the end of a small dead-end road. The turnoff is near the OK Corral amusement park, on the N8 between Cuges-les-Pins and Le Beausset. If you're traveling by public transportation, plan on a taxi or another option for the last stretch, as service is limited in this remote part of the department.
Where is Riboux?
Riboux is perched at 1,700 feet on the southern slope of the Sainte-Baume massif. This small commune in the Var owes its well-kept character to its isolation. Oddly, although it is administratively part of the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, its postal code (13780) belongs to the Bouches-du-Rhône, shared with Cuges-les-Pins.
What is there to see in Riboux?
Riboux's main sights are tied to its rural heritage and its landscapes. Claude Berri shot scenes of Jean de Florette here, and the film's farmhouse can still be recognized today. The surrounding hills open onto wide views across the whole massif. Worth seeing: the church of Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue-Sainte-Marie with its bell dating from 1717, and the Sainte-Agathe chapel. Hikers will enjoy the two-chapels trail up to the Saint-Pilon, where the view reaches far across Provence. Stop too at the old cade ovens, relics of the production of cade oil, distilled from juniper wood, which long supported the village.
