Discover the pretty Var village of Le Castellet

The village of Le Castellet is one of the Var's top tourist attractions. This superb little feudal village perched at the top of its promontory will charm you with its picturesque Provencal architecture, its small squares lined with beautiful old houses carefully restored and its old stones tastefully enhanced.

Le Castellet Var.

You enter Le Castellet through 2 fortified gates, then let yourself be guided along the narrow streets by potters, leatherworkers... scented candles, ceramics and jewelry rub shoulders with picture galleries and ice-cream vendors. You'll be delighted to stroll through these small, sloping streets, even if at certain times of the year you'll find it hard to move between the craft stalls... this wise little bazaar doesn't mean the village has lost its charm...

Sightseeing in the village of Le Castellet

You'll be delighted to stroll along its small, sloping streets, even if at certain times of the year you'll find it hard to move between the craft stalls... this wise little bazaar doesn't mean the village has lost its charm. From one street to the next, you'll discover a stone wall with sprays of flowers, wisteria and bougainvillea. Reds, oranges, fuchsias and violets mingle with the ivy that runs throughout the village.

Boutique.

If you visit the village at lunchtime or dinnertime, you won't be able to resist the delicate smells of Provencal cuisine wafting in from the open windows... tomatoes, garlic and Provencal herbs simmered in olive oil, you'll recognize them... and you'll find it hard to resist the pleasantly shaded terraces of the restaurants you come across later! Le Castellet is proud to have been the setting for Raimu 's cult film: “La femme du boulanger” (The Baker's Wife) by the celebrated film-maker and writer Marcel Pagnol.
