Gorbio
10km to the north of Roquebrune Cap Martin take the D50 or D23.
A short distance away from Menton. You'll just have left the beaches of the Côte d'Azur, but before you realize it you'll be surrounded by a impressive rocky environment.
You can't fail to be seduced by the Gorbio, this historic medieval village sitting in the shadow of the Mont Agel (1.150m), the Gorbio peak (929m), the Madone pass (927m) and the Briancon peak.
Wander around the beautiful streets of the village paved in local stone and you'll discover some of the magnificent residences with their doorways dating back to the XIth and XVIIth centuries.
The rows of narrow streets will take you through medieval covered passageways and then into charming little squares with their ancient drinking fountains.
The whole of the village is adorned with giant plants and mediterranean flowers which give classy feel to the ancient stones of the village.
Especially in summer a multitude of seasonal events are organized ranging from musical evenings to the cherry festival, art exhibitions to the famous slug procession ... slug procession you say! yes but don't be alarmed you won't find any real slugs, just empty snail shells garnished with a flame...!
