Discovering Luberon wines

Would you like to discover Luberon wines during your vacation in Provence? The “Luberon AOC” offers three colors of blended wines made from grape varieties from the Rhône Valley. Production is divided into 50% rosé, 25% red, and 25% white.

Vignoble du Luberon.

The vineyard covers 36 communes in the Vaucluse between the Calavon Valley to the north and the Durance to the south. The rosé wines reveal aromas of red fruits and citrus with a lovely freshness. The reds offer notes of black fruits and spices with silky tannins. The whites express aromas of white flowers and peach with an elegant palate.

The terroir benefits from a Mediterranean climate tempered by altitude. The vines grow between 200 and 450 meters above sea level on limestone and sandy soils. This temperature range gives the wines their characteristic freshness. The Luberon Regional Nature Park has protected the entire vineyard since 1997. The appellation has been recognized as an AOC since 1988, after being classified as a VDQS in 1951.

The main grape varieties are Syrah, Grenache Noir, and Mourvèdre for the reds and rosés. Vermentino brings citrus notes to the whites, along with Grenache Blanc, Clairette, and Roussanne. This distinctive feature of Vermentino sets the Luberon AOC apart from other appellations in the Rhône Valley. Winemakers blend these grape varieties to create balanced, fruity wines.
