Discover the charming village of Eyragues in the Alpilles
Eyragues is a peaceful, typically Provençal village located a stone's throw from St Rémy de Provence. Strategically located in the heart of the Alpilles, the commune of Eyragues is an ideal base for visiting the most beautiful tourist sites in Provence without having to drive too far.
In less than an hour, you can discover Les Baux de Provence, the Luberon, Avignon, and the Pont du Gard, for example.
A pretty old town center
You can't miss the huge village square with its large plane trees that provide shade in summer. This is where the heart of Eyragues beats, where people do their shopping, and where the market is held every Friday morning.
Everyone meets here, crosses paths, and takes the opportunity to chat and catch up on the latest news. The elders pass the time chatting on the benches while the children play around the fountain. On holidays, the square comes alive, the terraces are noisier, the atmosphere is friendly, and good cheer is of course the order of the day.
Village festivals
Every year, during the Pentecost weekend, bulls, horses, and herdsmen gather for three days of festivities featuring bull races, abrivado, bandido, and encierro de taureaux (releasing bulls into the village streets, supervised by the herdsmen).
At the end of August, it's time for the Saint Symphorien festival, with a whole week of Camargue races, abrivado, shows, dances, boules competitions, and cycle races.
