Discover the pretty town of Marignane in the Bouches-du-Rhône
20 km from Marseille and 25 km from Aix-en-Provence, Marignane is located between the Étang de Berre pond and the Mediterranean Sea. Known for being home to Marseille-Provence Airport, the town also boasts a pretty old Provençal center and natural riverbanks that are ideal for walks.

Marignane lives to the rhythm of its market, its Provençal traditions and its aeronautical industry. Between port areas, nearby beaches and natural spaces, it offers a contrasting face, far from being limited to its role as a gateway to the region.

A setting between water and hills
The Étang de Berre lake borders the city to the southwest, offering a wide opening onto the water. The banks are popular with fishermen and walkers, especially around the marina. To the north, the Notre-Dame hill attracts walkers with its views of the lake, the plain and, on clear days, the Sainte-Victoire mountain.

The Mediterranean climate, mild in winter and warm in summer, allows you to enjoy the outdoors for much of the year. The beaches of the Côte Bleue, such as Carry-le-Rouet, are less than 20 minutes away.
Stroll through the city
Start in the historic center with its cobbled streets, colorful shuttered houses, and small shaded squares. Place Camille Desmoulins is the hub of activity, especially on market days.

Visit the Saint-Nicolas collegiate church, a 17th-century Baroque church open in the morning and during services. Its high altar and altarpieces are listed. A local anecdote tells of a sailor who miraculously survived a shipwreck and donated a bell to the church as a sign of gratitude.
Continue on to the port of Marignane, where fishing boats and sailboats coexist. The redesigned promenade along the lake allows you to watch flamingos and herons at sunrise.
