Cruis
A 51 exit Peyruis then direction St Etienne les Orgues via the D101 then the D951.
Between fields of lavander and fragrant valleys, the charming village of Cruis is peacefully situated on the outskirts of the beech forests of the Lure mountain, north of the Forcalquier region.
The fields of lavander and medicinal plants which surround Cruis have made the village an important centre in the sale of essential oils.
The village has preserved its character and promises delightful walks in the narrow streets filled with flowers and picturesque squares.
You will discover some beautiful houses with ancient stone facades and colourful rooves harmoniously faded over time.
You can admire the church which is the pride of the village as it houses a magnificently restored 17th century altarpiece, together with 17 "santons" or Provencal figurines classified as "Monument Historique".
Don't miss the lovely pyramid-shaped bell tower with its multi-coloured tiles.
During the summer months, festivals, shows and exhibitions liven up the village which is known for the friendliness of its inhabitants who enjoy a particularly pleasant life style... enhanced by the Mediterranean sun...
