Located on the banks of the river lined with poplars
and surrounded by verdant meadows, the hamlet of Peyroules is still a farming
community, with its earthy smells and tractors.
However it has also become a Mecca for city-dwellers
who miss mother Nature and have restored some of Peyroules' magnificent
old barns built from the local yellow stone. Strictly speaking, Peyroules is not a village, but
the union of three hamlets situated in a long valley surrounded by mountains
and hillsides :
- Hameau de la Batie
- Hameau de La Rivière (Peyroules)
- Hameau de La Foux.
A small road climbs up through the three settlements. As you cross the forests
and fields, you will discover some surprising sites of eroded black schiste.
Numerous hiking trails on the "Teillon" enable you to appreciate
the beauty of the countryside and the variety of the vegetation.
At Peyroules, children rule the roost: they can
play in the streets or cycle to their hearts content!
