Fréjus, a historic city of character
Ancient military port and Roman city, Frejus rises above the fertile alluvial plains which separate the Esterel mountains from the Maures mountains. At equal distance between Cannes and Saint Tropez, this city of art and culture has built up a rich historical and architectural patrimony.
This has been an active and dynamic city since Julius Caesar himself founded it in 49 B.C. and right up to the present with the French Navy often at shore here.
Don't miss the old town and historic center of Fréjus
The city is filled with monuments. These include one of the largest amphitheaters from Gallic times (1st or 2nd century), a Roman theater, the Porte Doree (a golden door, ruins from baths of the 3rd c.), the Porte des Gaules, the aqueduct which carried the water from Signole for 40 km and the Cocteau Chapel conceived by Jean Cocteau In 1961 and finished by E. Dermit in 1965.
Fréjus beach and port
Frejus is also a seaside resort where the sea once again finds itself In the center of the city with the construction of the Port-Frejus.
The little port of St. Aygulf gives easy access to the beach paths where one can discover the wild inlets and the sand beaches of this pleasant hamlet.
Fréjus: a city of markets
With no less than nine markets a week, Fréjus is a paradise for market strollers and shoppers. During the summer months from July to October, Fréjus even organizes night markets. Ask at the Fréjus Tourist Office for full details of these markets and find out which one is right for you.
An idea for a family outing: the Fréjus Zoological Park
With both a classic zoo section, where you can admire the most beautiful tropical animals, and an interesting reflection on biodiversity in the Mediterranean area, the Parc Zoologique de Fréjus is a simple family outing that will appeal to the whole family.

Your questions about Fréjus
WHERE TO SWIM AT FRÉJUS PLAGE?
There are many beaches in Fréjus, but our favorite is the plage des Esclamandes in Saint-Aygulf. The sand is magnificent and the sea pleasant. Fréjus residents come here with their families, and tourists flock here in summer.
WHERE TO WALK AROUND FRÉJUS?
If we had to recommend just one hike, it would be the coastal path between Saint-Raphaël and Le Dramont. Allow around 2h30 to marvel at the sumptuous coves and the azure blue of the Mediterranean.
