Pourcieux
On route N7 between Aix en Provence and St. Maximin.
Pourcieux is situated in front of the Sainte-Baume massif to the south and Mount Sainte Victoire to the north. A small, tranquil village on the banks of the Arc river, Pourcieux is nestled at the foot of Mount Aurelien.
Besides the impressive back-drop of Sainte-Baume and Sainte Victoire, the village is surrounded by fields of vines and a delightful forest.
The main economic activities of Pourcieux centre around agriculture and wine-growing.
Depending on the season, you will no doubt come across many tractors on the small roads near the village returning from the fields at lunch-time, or at the end of the day..
In the village, you will discover the Chateau of Pourcieux. Although it is privately owned, if you go past the gate-way and large paved court-yard you can buy the wine which is produced here.
In the village centre, opposite the Chateau, you can sit in the picturesque square under the shady plane trees.
There is not an awful lot to visit there, but the residents especially appreciate Pourcieux for having both a verdant setting and easy access to roads leading to their workplaces of Aix en Provence or Marseille.
